The Olympic Development Program is a US Youth Soccer Program to identify players of the highest caliber which will lead to increased success for the US National Teams. The program is administered at the state level by VYSA (VA Youth Soccer Association) which Augusta FC is a member of. VYSA is the Virginia affiliate for US Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer is the largest youth soccer organization under US Soccer.

 

Virginia ODP is divided into four districts – Central, Northern, Southeastern and Western. Each district conducts open tryouts each summer for the 5 participating birth years of both genders for the next seasonal year. For the upcoming seasonal year, the 2008-2009 seasonal year, tryouts were conducted for the 96, 95, 94, 93, 92 birth years. Players selected to the age group pools participate in training sessions in Roanoke under the guidance of district ODP coaches. They will also participate in two play dates amongst the other districts giving each player a chance to be selected to the state pool.

West Region ODP tryout dates released!

Tryouts will be held the weekend of Augusta 2^nd in Roanoke at the Vineyard II fields for the 96, 95, 94, 93 & 92 district pool age groups and the 98 & 97 Academy groups. Augusta FC to host two coaching education courses!

Augusta FC is hosting the USSF “E” Certificate course the weekend of July 25^th -27^th as well as the NSCAA Advanced Regional course the weekend of August 1^st -3^rd . Both courses will be held at Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center. They will run Friday evening 5-9pm and 9-5 on Saturday & Sunday.

This is an excellent opportunity to get the “E” or the Advanced Regional in your own backyard. These courses are FREE to any current or upcoming Augusta FC coach or assistant coach. Please be aware that these courses are also the minimum requirement for travel level coaching if that is your goal.

We are fortunate to have two excellent instructors for these courses. Matt Badiee is the USSF “E” instructor. Believe me, even if you think you know a lot about coaching, Matt will take you to another level. Matt runs the State ODP program and was the 2003 VA coach of the year. He’s an incredible instructor. We are also fortunate to have Ben Freakley as the instructor for the NSCAA course. Ben is the VMI head men’s soccer coach. He is also part of the NSCAA national coaching staff, is the NSCAA State Technical Director for VA and a member of the state ODP coaching staff.

Augsta FC to Hold Late Travel Team Tryouts! Teams Announced!

August FC will hold late travel tryouts to fill open roster spots. The tryouts will be held on Tuesday, June 17th from 5:00-8:00pm at Ridgeview Park fields. Teams that will be participating are: U11 Boys, U12 Boys, U14 Boys, U12 Girls & U15 Girls These tryouts are only open to players that did not participate in the original travel team tryouts. Augusta Futbol Club Launches New Website

Augusta is excited to roll out its newly designed website. The front end site work was done by Category 4 in Charlottesville, VA. The new site is a vast improvement visually over the previous site and is easier to navigate. While there is still some work to finish, the club was eager to have the new site operational in time to roll out with the new back end registration software. The new backend is being provided by Blue Sombrero. Register today!

Travel Team Registrations due May 30th

2008/09 travel team registrations are due by May 30th. Fall 2008 recreation league registration opens June 1st.

Fall 2008 Rec League Registration

Fall 2008 recreation league registration will be open online beginning June 1st. All registrations will be date stamped, so please register early!

Travel Team Selections to be Announced May 27th

Travel team selections will be posted Tuesday, May 27th! All selected players must register and pay by the end of the day Friday, May 30th. Late registration will be open until Friday, June 6th with a $20 late fee.

AFC Partners with Blue Ridge Community College

Augusta FC is excited to announce a new partnership with Blue Ridge Community College to utilize a portion of their soccer fields for our newest Rec League location. The addition of Weyers Cave as our fourth location is another step in our plans to regionalize recreational soccer in Augusta County and the cities of Waynesboro and Staunton. "Blue Ridge Community College is pleased to be able to help Augusta FC expand its recreational soccer program by offering a northern county location", said Franki Hampton, BRCC Associate Vice President of Finance & Facilities. It is only through partnerships such as this and our existing ones with Waynesboro Parks & Recreation, Augusta County Parks & Recreation, and Eastside Speedway that we are able to offer soccer to more youth in our area.

Augusta FC Takes Possession of 30 Acres for 30 Years

Augusta FC has signed a 30 year lease for 30 acres off of Solutions Way on the former Genicom property outside of Waynesboro. The acreage was generously offered to the club for $1 a year and we are grateful for the generosity and vision of the Solutions Way Management LLC owners in recognizing the potential use for the flood plain land.
