All-star Rec Teams in Action!

Augusta FC’s first U10 rec all-star teams were in action this weekend at the Kroger Cup in Roanoke. Congratulations to both teams for a great showing and to the boys for winning their division!

The U10 girls, coached by Scott Harrison and Dirk van Assendelft, opened Saturday play with a 2-0 win over Roanoke Star U10 Chelsea then dropped their second game 3-1 to the Salem Sabres U10 Maroon. Sunday saw two close matches with the girls dropping both 2-0 and 1-0 to Salem and Roanoke respectively.

The U10 boys, coached by Scott Harrison and Jeff Gaines, started Saturday with a 4-0 win over the Christiansburg (VA) Red Devils and picked up a second win of 5-0 against the East River Soccer Association (Mercer County, WV) to advance to Sunday’s semi-final round. The boys defeated Currituck United (Currituck County, NC) 7-3 Sunday to move on to the championship match against the tournament hosts, Roanoke Star U10 Barcelona. In the championship match, Augusta FC led 2-0 at the half and added a third goal in the second half to prevail 3-0. The boys enjoyed incredible support from their family and friends (including the famous “Cheerios”), who well out-numbered and definitely out-cheered the host club.

Both teams represented their club well, had a great time and enjoyed the learning experience!
