Greensboro Adidas Shootout

Augusta FC Red teams compete at the Greensboro United Adidas Labor Day Shootout and the U17/18 Boys Red take second place!

Augusta FC sent three teams to Greensboro, NC over the Labor Day weekend for their first college showcase tournament. Greensboro United hosts the Adidas Labor Day Shootout and showcase, one of the mid-Atlantic's premier pre-season tournaments. Click here for the tournament website. Games were played on bermuda grass at the beautiful Bryan Park soccer complex.

Our U16 Boys Red, U17/18 Boys Red and U17 Girls Red teams took this tournament opportunity to play in front of college coaches from the region for the chance to be seen.

All three teams had great competition with the U17/18 boys coached by Matt Dameron finishing second based on a points tie-breaker. The U16 boys coached by club DOC Scott Harrison included a combined group from the U16 red and white teams. The boys, some playing together for the first time, had a good showing with two exciting games. In the first they "spotted" the U17 SVU premier team a 1-5 half time lead and narrowly missed playing to a tie in a final 5-6 game. They then finished their tournament with a thrilling game against fellow club members the U17/18 boys with a final score of 1-2. The women's side had the U17 Girls Red coached by Ray Ellington playing close games as they learned to play with each other during their first games of the season.
