U11GR Win the Capital Cup!

Augusta FC’s U11GR team won the Capital Cup soccer tournament Memorial Day weekend in Richmond, VA with a record of 2-0-1 in a 3-game round-robin division. They defeated the Valley AFC U11G’s 6-2 and the Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association U11G’s 7-1. Goal scorers were Dymond Turkiewicz (7), Rebecca Pereles (3), BeccaMarie Gaines, Kathryn Johnson, and Madison Becker. Multiple assists came from Rachel Sauder, Mariah Hoy, and Courtney Beadles. In a fiercely contested match, the team tied a great U11G team from Cleveland, NC, 0-0. Outstanding defensive performances were turned in by Abby Rodgers, BeccaMarie Gaines, Maddie Roberts, Abby Flint and goalkeeper Kelsey Cupp, who made over 10 saves. The Championship was decided on penalty kicks which Augusta FC won 4-2 with scores by BeccaMarie Gaines, Madison Becker, Dymond Turkiewicz, and Abby Flint.

The tournament win capped a stellar season for the U11GR who went 8-0-2 in league play and won the Skyline League Premier Division Championship in only their second season as a team.
