Recreation League

The objective of the Augusta FC Recreational Program is to provide each player the opportunity to play local community soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun, enjoyment and skill development at a level that fits the child’s interest and ability.

Our recreational divisions are designed to mirror your child’s school development and keep certain grades and therefore school relationships intact. We offer the following rec divisions: kindergarten; 1st grade; 2nd & 3rd grade; 4th & 5th grade; and 6th grade & up. We have five rec league locations in Waynesboro (Eastside Speedway), Staunton (VSDB), Fishersville (Wilson Schools), Stuarts Draft (SD Park) and Weyers Cave (Blue Ridge Community College). As registration grows, we have plans to expand further with the goal of making recreational soccer in Augusta County geographically regionalized. This will mean local practices for parents and the opportunity to play with friends, neighbors and school mates. But, it also affords the opportunity to compete with and against players from other parts of the county during the season. Help us achieve this goal by spreading the word!

Join us twice a year, fall and spring, for recreational soccer!

  • Equal playing time.
  • Co-ed kindergarten and 1st grade teams. Gender specific 2nd grade and up teams.
  • Community based teams (local practices).
  • Online registration (no standing in line or mailed forms).
  • Family discount of $10 per player for each additional player registered each season.
  • Jersey and socks are included for each division.
  • Financial aid is available to those who wish to request it.

New for Spring 2010

Augusta FC will be introducing our SSG (small sided game) program for the kindergarten and 1st grade divisions this spring. What does the SSG format mean?

  • SSG program overseen by our Director of Coaching.
  • No traditional teams. Practices held in groups at each location.
  • Practices led by more experienced coaches.
  • Parents new to coaching encouraged to help and learn the fundamentals of youth soccer coaching.
  • Saturday games held in small sided game format with all players participating together.
  • Small sided game format (3v3 & 4v4) means no subs - everyone plays!
  • Players play with and against players from other locations on Saturdays.
  • Constantly changing teams means more fun for the players.

Augusta FC is following the lead of US Youth Soccer in promoting the prominent use of small sided games to aid in the fun and skills development of youth soccer players. We are also introducing a growing movement in youth soccer to utilize the small sided game format to give the game back to our youngest players. This new format will also allow us to create a different coaching structure over time. The structure will be more pyramidal allowing us to put more experienced coaches in charge of training and giving the parent new to youth soccer coaching a less stressful environment to learn coaching skills.
