Registration Information

Augusta FC Rec League Registration Information

We have four rec league locations!

  • VSDB (Staunton)
  • Eastside Speedway (Waynesboro)
  • Wilson Schools Complex (Fishersville)
  • Stuarts Draft Park (Stuarts Draft)

Please read all of the information that follows before clicking the link to our registration page below!

Registration is now open. Regular registration for the Fall 2010 Rec season opened May 25th and will close Augusta 1st. Please be aware that all registrations for the Fall rec league are taken on a first-come first-served basis. Please register early!

Please be aware that when you log in to your Blue Sombrero account and begin to register, there are now separate registration options for each age group at each location. Please make sure you select the correct location. Also be aware that there are registration limits in place. When a limit for any listing is reached, that listing will no longer be available and you may either choose another location or register "Waitlist" once it opens on August 1st.

What does registering waitlist mean? We have a set number of fields at each location which limits the number of teams we can allow in each age level at any given location. If you choose to register waitlist, you may be selected if another player cancels their registration or moves to another location. If you are accepted off of the waitlist, you will receive an email telling you so. You will then have access to your registration on your home registration page when you log in. From there you can choose to pay by credit card or send us a check. There is no charge for waitlist registration until you are accepted.

The current rec league fees are $55 for kindergarten & 1st Grade, $70 for 2nd-3rd grade and $75 for 4th grade and up. You have the option of paying by credit card at check out, or you may select the “pay by check” option and mail a check made out to “Augusta FC” to PO Box 714, Fishersville, VA 22939. We prefer credit card payment as it reduces the amount of work required by our volunteers.

What Division is Your Child In?

If you will be registering for the fall season, then our divisions are based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall. If you will be registering for the spring season, then our divisions are based on the grade your child is currently in. No one is authorized to register their child for an incorrect grade group. Please honor this policy and realize that we do this because it is in the best interest of the development of each player.

Financial Aid

For those who wish to be considered for financial aid, please complete the online registration process and select the “pay by check” option when checking out. Then, please fill out the financial aid form available below. Please mail the form to us at PO Box 714, Fishersville, VA 22939. We ask that anyone requesting financial aid indicate what they are able to pay, and either include that amount when mailing the form or let us know when you will be able to pay that amount.

Petitioning to Play Up

It is the expectation that players on Augusta FC travel teams will play for their appropriate age/grade group according to the chart below. If the player is of exceptional talent, they may petition to try out one age group up. This request is for permission to try out for the team and does not guarantee selection to that team. All petitioning players will be watched and evaluated during their Spring playing season by the club's Director of Coaching. The Travel Program Committee and/or Director of Coaching will then review all requests and contact the players with their decision prior to tryouts. The petition to play up form may be downloaded below. Please email with any questions.

Age Groups

Augusta FC encourages all players to play with their grade peers. In some cases, the player’s birth date puts them on a team that is younger than the team for their grade level. These players may try out for the team that matches their grade level without a petition to play up (per the chart below), or may choose to try out for the team in their true age group. Players may not play down an age group for any reason.

Age Group: Birth Date:
U18 8/1/92 to 7/31/93 and/or rising 12th graders born after 7/31/93
U17 8/1/93 to 7/31/94 and/or rising 11th graders born after 7/31/94

U11 8/1/99 to 7/31/00 and/or rising 5th graders born after 7/31/00

Travel Team Fees

Travel team fees for the Fall season will be $190. U11 through U14 teams rostering again for the spring 2011 season will go through a second registration in December and pay an additional $190 for the spring season. Any players rostering for the first time will be charged a uniform fee of $70 when registering. Travel Teams

Augusta FC offers a Travel Program for players who are looking to take their game to a higher level. We sponsor boys and girls travel teams for U11 - U18. These teams offer an opportunity for players to improve their skills and play against quality competition throughout the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding area. Travel teams participate in the Skyline league out of Charlottesville. Click here for a link to the Skyline league site.

Travel teams conduct tryouts each May for the following Fall and Spring seasons. A travel team commitment is considered a two season commitment for the U11-U14 age groups and a Fall only commitment for U15 and above due to JV and varsity soccer in the Spring. Under certain circumstances, arrangements may be made with each individual travel team coach and we encourage potential players to attend tryouts and discuss their individual situations with the coaches. Registration periods are in June following tryouts for the coming Fall season, and again in December for the U11-U14 groups playing a Spring season. For the younger groups, fees are assessed each season (twice per year).

Travel soccer is a competitive program and all interested players are encouraged to try out, but not all players will make the team. Playing time is usually earned, not guaranteed, and is at the discretion of the head coach. Coaches are trained and licensed and the focus is on player development. Travel soccer demands a greater level of time and monetary commitment and players are expected to attend twice weekly practices, all games, and one or more out of town weekend tournaments each season.

For more information on our travel program and tryouts, please see the links to the right.

If you still have any questions or need to contact us for any reason, please email us at .

    Recreation League

The objective of the Augusta FC Recreational Program is to provide each player the opportunity to play local community soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun, enjoyment and skill development at a level that fits the child’s interest and ability.

Our recreational divisions are designed to mirror your child’s school development and keep certain grades and therefore school relationships intact. We offer the following rec divisions: kindergarten; 1st grade; 2nd & 3rd grade; 4th & 5th grade; and 6th grade & up. We have five rec league locations in Waynesboro (Eastside Speedway), Staunton (VSDB), Fishersville (Wilson Schools), Stuarts Draft (SD Park) and Weyers Cave (Blue Ridge Community College). As registration grows, we have plans to expand further with the goal of making recreational soccer in Augusta County geographically regionalized. This will mean local practices for parents and the opportunity to play with friends, neighbors and school mates. But, it also affords the opportunity to compete with and against players from other parts of the county during the season. Help us achieve this goal by spreading the word!

Join us twice a year, fall and spring, for recreational soccer!

    • Equal playing time.
    • Co-ed kindergarten and 1st grade teams. Gender specific 2nd grade and up teams.
    • Community based teams (local practices).
    • Online registration (no standing in line or mailed forms).
    • Family discount of $10 per player for each additional player registered each season.
    • Jersey and socks are included for each division.
    • Financial aid is available to those who wish to request it.

    New for Spring 2010

Augusta FC will be introducing our SSG (small sided game) program for the kindergarten and 1st grade divisions this spring. What does the SSG format mean?

    • SSG program overseen by our Director of Coaching.
    • No traditional teams. Practices held in groups at each location.
    • Practices led by more experienced coaches.
    • Parents new to coaching encouraged to help and learn the fundamentals of youth soccer coaching.
    • Saturday games held in small sided game format with all players participating together.
    • Small sided game format (3v3 & 4v4) means no subs - everyone plays!
    • Players play with and against players from other locations on Saturdays.

Augusta FC is following the lead of US Youth Soccer in promoting the prominent use of small sided games to aid in the fun and skills development of youth soccer players. We are also introducing a growing movement in youth soccer to utilize the small sided game format to give the game back to our youngest players. This new format will also allow us to create a different coaching structure over time. The structure will be more pyramidal allowing us to put more experienced coaches in charge of training and giving the parent new to youth soccer coaching a less stressful environment to learn coaching skills.
