Winter Indoor League

Augusta FC is hosting its winter indoor league starting in December! This is a non-instructional, game only league with no coaches or practices. Games are played 5v5 (1 goalie & 4 court players) on a basketball court with out of bounds and no wall play. Games are fast paced and fun and reward ball control and quick thinking. Games will follow official futsal rules and will be refereed.

Based on excellent registration numbers last winter, we were able to make all of the divisions team based. We hope to do so again and encourage players to find team mates and form teams before registering. Then, register as individuals and put your team name in the appropriate field when registering. We will verify all teams prior to forming the schedule. Help us make this season even better than the last!

New this season! With the change in VHSL rules, we will be scheduling all U18 (u15-u18) games on Sunday afternoons at Wilson High School.

Registration will open in October. Once open, to go directly to the registration site, please click here.

    Registration Information

Augusta FC Rec League Registration Information

We have four rec league locations!

    • Fishersville (Wilson Schools Complex)
    • Staunton (VSDB)
    • Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft Park)
    • Waynesboro (Eastside Speedway)

Please read all of the information that follows before clicking the link to our registration page below!

Registration is now open. Regular registration for the Spring 2012 Rec season is open through 2/5. Waitlist registration will open 2/6 and remain open until the season starts. There is no fee for waitlist registration unless the players is placed on a team, but the club has a new late fee policy. Any players accepted off of the waitlist will incur a $15 late fee. Also, please be aware that all registrations are taken on a first-come first-served basis. Please register early!

Please be aware that when you log in to your Blue Sombrero account and begin to register, there are separate registration options for each age group at each location. Please make sure you select the correct location. Also be aware that there are registration limits in place. When a limit for any listing is reached, that listing will no longer be available and you may either choose another location or register "Waitlist" once it opens.

What does registering waitlist mean? We have a set number of fields at each location which limits the number of teams we can allow in each age level at any given location. If you choose to register waitlist, you may be selected if another player cancels their registration or moves to another location. If you are accepted off of the waitlist, you will receive an email telling you so. You will then have access to your registration on your home registration page when you log in. From there you can choose to pay by credit card or send us a check. There is no charge for waitlist registration until you are accepted.

The current rec league fees are $55 for U6, $70 for U8 and U10, and $75 for U12 and U18. You have the option of paying by credit card at check out, or you may select the “pay by check” option and mail a check made out to “Augusta FC” to PO Box 714, Fishersville, VA 22939. We prefer credit card payment as it reduces the amount of work required by our volunteers. Please be aware that starting with the Spring 2012 season, if we do not receive your payment by the close of regular registration (2/5) then you registration will be canceled and you will have to register waitlist.

What Division is Your Child In?

Age brackets for the rec league divisions are posted below. Please let us know if you have any questions. No one is authorized to register their child for an incorrect division. Please honor this policy and realize that we do this because it is in the best interest of the development of each player.

    Petitioning to Play Up

It is the expectation that players on Augusta FC travel teams will play for their appropriate age/grade group according to the chart below. If the player is of exceptional talent, they may petition to try out one age group up. This request is for permission to try out for the team and does not guarantee selection to that team. All petitioning players will be watched and evaluated during their Spring playing season by the club's Director of Coaching. The Director of Coaching will then contact the players with his decision prior to tryouts. The petition to play up form may be downloaded below. Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with any questions.

    Age Groups

Augusta FC encourages all players to play with their grade peers. In some cases, the player’s birth date puts them on a team that is younger than the team for their grade level. These players may try out for the team that matches their grade level without a petition to play up (per the chart below), or may choose to try out for the team in their true age group. Players may not play down an age group for any reason.

    Age Group: Birth Date:
    U18 8/1/93 to 7/31/94 and/or rising 12th graders born after 7/31/94
    U17 8/1/94 to 7/31/95 and/or rising 11th graders born after 7/31/95
    U16 8/1/95 to 7/31/96 and/or rising 10th graders born after 7/31/96
    U15 8/1/96 to 7/31/97 and/or rising 9th graders born after 7/31/97
    U14 8/1/97 to 7/31/98 and/or rising 8th graders born after 7/31/98
    U13 8/1/98 to 7/31/99 and/or rising 7th graders born after 7/31/99
    U12 8/1/99 to 7/31/00 and/or rising 6th graders born after 7/31/00
    U11 8/1/00 to 7/31/01 and/or rising 5th graders born after 7/31/01

    Travel Team Fees

Travel team fees for the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 season will be $230 not including uniforms. Parents can elect to pay the full amount when accepting a position. As an alternative, parents may pay $100 when accepting a position and then pay the balance due in two more payments of $65 at the end of July and August.

The board has elected to raise fees to help cover additional costs. Due to our growth, the club is now employing both a Director of Coaching as well as a part-time administrator. We also have several field improvement projects beginning this spring and a more aggressive field maintenance plan going forward. Of the six major clubs in the Skyline League, Augusta FC continues to offer the best value to its parents and players. Fees at the other clubs range from $250 to more than $600 per season for travel play.

    Morning 1
Introduction to soccer through game play with and without the ball.

    Morning 2
This is geared towards the novice player looking to improve his or her skills. Players will learn characteristics of each position and the skills that go with it including defense, mid-field, forward and keeper.

    Evening
The evening session will be geared towards both recreation and travel players. Players will be grouped based on ability and given individual skills training which will then be applied to personal tactic and small group tactic activities. Through-out the week guest high school and college coaches from around the area will be at the camp to help run training. Younger travel players are encouraged to attend with their teammates as this camp will focus on individual skills and will be more intense individually than the "Team Week" in early August that will begin the fall travel season.

All sessions are discounted $10 for each additional child you register. All participants will be given a camp t-shirt.

    Travel Teams

Augusta FC offers a Travel Program for players who are looking to take their game to a higher level. We sponsor boys and girls travel teams for U11 - U18. These teams offer an opportunity for players to improve their skills and play against quality competition throughout the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding area. Travel teams participate in the Skyline league out of Charlottesville. Click here for a link to the Skyline league site.

Travel teams conduct tryouts each May for the following Fall and Spring seasons. A travel team commitment is considered a two season commitment for the U11-U14 age groups and a Fall only commitment for U15 and above due to JV and varsity soccer in the Spring. Under certain circumstances, arrangements may be made with each individual travel team coach and we encourage potential players to attend tryouts and discuss their individual situations with the coaches. Registration periods are in June following tryouts for the coming Fall season, and again in December for the U11-U14 groups playing a Spring season. For the younger groups, fees are assessed each season (twice per year).

Travel soccer is a competitive program and all interested players are encouraged to try out, but not all players will make the team. Playing time is usually earned, not guaranteed, and is at the discretion of the head coach. Coaches are trained and licensed and the focus is on player development. Travel soccer demands a greater level of time and monetary commitment and players are expected to attend twice weekly practices, all games, and one or more out of town weekend tournaments each season.

    Recreation League

The objective of the Augusta FC Recreational Program is to provide each player the opportunity to play local community soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun, enjoyment and skill development at a level that fits the child’s interest and ability.

Our recreational divisions are age based and designed to integrate with the other programs and offerings of the club. See here for a complete club programs overview. We offer the following rec divisions: U6 (5 & 6 year olds); U8 (7 & 8 year olds); U10 (9 & 10 year olds); U12 (11 & 12 year olds); and U18 (13 to 18 year olds). See "Registration Information" to the right for complete age brackets.

We have four rec league locations in Fishersville (Wilson Schools), Staunton (VSDB), Stuarts Draft (SD Park) and Waynesboro (Eastside Speedway). Our regional approach to rec league soccer means local practices for players and parents and the opportunity to play with friends, neighbors and school mates. But, it also affords the opportunity to compete with and against players from other parts of the county during Saturday games.

Join us twice a year, fall and spring, for recreational soccer!

    • Equal playing time.
    • Co-ed U6 division. Separate boys and girls divisions for U8 and up.
    • Community based teams (local practices).
    • Online registration (no standing in line or mailed forms).
    • Family discount of $10 per player for each additional player registered each season.
    • Jersey and socks are included for each division.

    Programs Overview

Augusta FC offers developmental and competitive soccer programs for youth from pre-k/kindergarten (U6) through high school (U18).

Our developmental programs include our recreation league, our academy training (starting fall 2012), our supplemental training sessions, our winter indoor league and our summer camps. These programs are open to anyone of any ability interested in playing soccer.

For a more competitive environment, Augusta FC offers tournament teams for our U10 rec and academy players as well as a travel program from U11 through U18. We have both boys and girls tournament and travel teams.

The following chart shows all of our programs and how they relate to one another. Below are additional details for each.

    Rec League

Starting in Spring 2012, the rec league has been re-aligned and moved from grade based to age based in order to mesh better within the overall club program structure. We now have U6, U8, U10, U12 and U18 divisions. U6 is coed and U8 through U18 are separate boys and girls divisions. The U6 division will be team based and the previous small sided game structure has been moved to the Academy.

    Academy Training

Academy training is supplemental to the rec league and will be held Friday nights starting in Fall 2012. It will be open to all rec league players for a separate fee (tbd). It will be led by the club's Director of Coaching and staffed by national level club coaches. The academy will be structured around the small sided game format previously used in our kindergarten and 1st grade rec divisions.

    Tournament Teams

This is our current rec-all star team program. Players are currently identified through the rec program for inclusion on a U10 tournament team each fall and spring. The teams are formed, taken to travel tournament, then disbanded each season. Starting in Fall 2012, players will be identified through both the rec league and the academy.

    Summer Camp

Includes both a beginner/intermediate program open to all U5-U14 players and a separate advanced program open to travel players, players selected to tournament teams and/or players selected out of rec and academy training.

    Summer League

Our summer league is still in planning and will be dependent upon future field availability and field development. We are making plans for a youth division (U7-U14) as well as a HS/adult division (U14 up including adults). More plans to follow.

    Winter Indoor

Our current indoor program with U7-U14 at Westwood Hills Thu-Sat and U15-U18 at Wilson Memorial HS on Sundays. We are also making plans to expand the HS division to include adult players.

    Training Sessions

Training sessions are held Friday nights at VSDB. Goalie and foot skills training began Fall 2011. Position training is set to begin Fall 2012. There is no additional cost for these training sessions.
